Investor’s Business Daily - Robots are expected to save the oil drilling industry a lot of money. Researchers plan to have the first robot-worked oil field by 2015, according to Science Daily. The benefits stretch far beyond paying fewer salaries. With a robot-controlled field, the costs are lower because many safety precautions currently required to protect workers are not necessary. These savings then compound because the process will enable companies to profit from smaller reservoirs that are currently not cost-beneficial.
